Lorebyte is an app for memorizing and reviewing flashcards for language and IT-certification study, with PDF/image/CSV/text import, study history, reminders, and iCloud sync.
This policy explains what information Lorebyte handles and how it is used. This is a draft; provider details, contact, and the last-updated date are finalized before publishing.
1. Information stored
The app stores the following primarily on your device:
- Decks, cards, prompts, answers, explanations, tags, and sources you create
- Text extracted from imported CSV/text/PDF/images, OCR results, translation aids, and card candidates
- Review history, ratings, study time, daily goals, and streaks
- App settings, reminder times, and sync settings
2. How information is used
- To display flashcards, decks, and review schedules
- To compute the next review time using spaced repetition
- To create card candidates from PDF, images, CSV, and text
- To show Japanese translations alongside English prompts
- To send review reminders at the time you set
- To make study data available across your Apple devices via iCloud
3. Purchases
After a 7-day free trial, the app unlocks all features via a one-time in-app purchase (non-consumable).
Purchases are processed by the App Store / Apple. We do not receive your payment details such as card numbers.
Unlock status is determined via StoreKit / receipts and can be restored with “Restore Purchases.” To manage the free-trial period, a first-launch timestamp may be stored on the device.
4. No ads, tracking, or third-party sharing
The app does not serve ads, track users, or sell data to data brokers. We do not use your study data for advertising, marketing, or resale.
5. iCloud sync
If you use iCloud sync, study data syncs across devices on the same Apple ID via Apple iCloud / CloudKit. Core features also work without sync.
6. PDF, images, OCR, translation
Only import material you own or are permitted to use for personal study. We do not log in to third-party course services, scrape, circumvent DRM, or redistribute. OCR and translation are study aids and accuracy is not guaranteed.
7. Notifications
With your permission, the app sends local notifications for review reminders. Core features work even if you decline.
8. Photos, files, permissions
The app may request access to photos or files you select for import, using the standard OS pickers and processing only what you choose.
9. Export & deletion
You can export all your data (decks, cards, history) or delete it entirely from the app settings. Deleting the app removes on-device data.
10. Children’s privacy
This is a general-audience study app. Age ratings and data handling follow the App Store age-rating settings and the implementation.
11. Changes
This policy may be updated for new features, laws, or App Store requirements. Material changes are announced in the app or on this page.
